How it works
FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), or the strip method, remains the most efficient way to move a very large number of grafts in one sitting. A thin strip of skin is taken from the dense donor area at the back of the head, then dissected under microscopes into individual follicular units and implanted across the recipient area. The donor edge is closed with a fine trichophytic suture, so the resulting line is slim and stays hidden under the hair above it.
Who it suits: advanced Norwood grade 5 to 7 baldness, or anyone who needs 3,000+ grafts in a single procedure and has limited scope for FUE-only harvesting. It is also cost-effective per graft.
The day itself: a single session of around 5 to 6 hours under local anaesthesia. You go home the same day with simple aftercare instructions.
Recovery and results: sutures are removed at about 10 to 14 days. Transplanted hairs shed within the first month and regrow from month 3 to 4, reaching the full result by roughly 12 months. As with FUE, the grafts are permanent.
At N-Hance, Kota: microscope-dissected grafts, careful donor closure to minimise the scar line, and honest advice on whether FUE or FUT genuinely suits your case — pricing from ₹40,000 with a free assessment.
